Robert (Bob) Joseph Hampton, 87, passed away October 17, 2015. Born May 1, 1928, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to parents Heber and Ora Hampton, he was preceded in death by his brother Dallas White. After graduating from Tulsa Central High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during the early Cold War years.
He married Norma Helen Hampton in 1951, and while working as a draftsman, earned his degree in business administration from the University of Tulsa in 1952; he was employed with Loffland Brothers Drilling Co. for 28 years, during which time he also established a children's clothing store, Angel Arbor, and obtained his Juris Doctor from University of Tulsa in 1980. He practiced law for 28 years.
Bob was known for his beautiful singing voice, and from 1948-1952 had leading tenor roles in several Tulsa Opera productions. Over the years, he delighted and inspired family and friends with his remarkable ability with language, capturing the essence of philosophy, religion, science, aesthetics, and human emotion.
Bob was guided by his deep faith and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa. He was a caring, compassionate person who enjoyed spending time with family. He is survived by his wife Norma Helen Hampton, daughter Karen Hampton, son Larry Hampton, nephew Rick White, niece Diane Young, niece Pat Newton, friend Bob Baker, and numerous other family members and friends.
