Obituary

Robert "Bob" Ramsey passed away on January 5, 2021 at the age of 90, in his hometown of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His battle with congestive heart failure over the past few years showed his courage in facing tough challenges with a smile. Despite his medical issues, he remained our hero and stayed strong until the end.

Bob was born on August 20, 1930 in Reeds Spring, Missouri. He attended Abesville school until graduation.

Bob overcame many hardships throughout his young life, but met his bride of 70 years, Imogene, and forged ahead to make a life for his wife and family.

Bob served time in the Air Force, which helped him through college. He graduated from The University of Missouri, School of Mines with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, in 1959.

Bob and Imogene moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1962 with their son, Steve, to begin working for the Corps of Engineers. They had their daughter, Lori, thereafter.

Over the years, Bob worked his way up to become Chief of Geotechnical Branch as a GS-14. He rose to Chief of Engineering Division as a GS-15 before retiring in 1990.

Bob loved the Missouri hills where he grew up, fishing and the company of good friends. Most of all, he loved his family. He loved them fiercely and unconditionally, and will always be remembered for that.

He provided an example of a strong work ethic, value for education, commitment to marriage, exercise, friendship, and determination. The legacy that he has left behind will carry on forever through his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Webb; his father, Dan Ramsey; and his brother, Richard Ramsey.

He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 70 years, Imogene Ramsey of Broken Arrow; son, Steve Ramsey of Broken Arrow; daughter Lori Richardson and husband Bob Richardson of Broken Arrow; three grandchildren, Lindsay Little and husband Andy of Broken Arrow, Kyle Houston and wife Chrissy of Broken Arrow, Samantha Lee and husband Brad of Broken Arrow; seven great- grandchildren, Kylie Houston, Kennedi Little, Callahan Houston, Drew Little, Connor Houston, Gracie Lee and Gage Lee.
