Obituary

Robert Louis Edens, II "Rob", beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away at Clarehouse after a long, valiant battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, on February 6, 2019, at the age of 73.

A native of Tulsa, he attended John Brown University and served in the US Army Reserves prior to meeting and marrying the love of his life, Diana. He was a devoted father to their three children who loved him dearly. They brought him the greatest joy and he considered raising them to be his most important accomplishment. He owned a foreign auto repair business, Elgin Import Auto Specialist, which became a fixture in downtown Tulsa, where many customers became cherished, lifelong friends.

Rob was an avid reader who loved history, he was happiest outdoors where he enjoyed camping and hiking, hunting and fishing, and he enthusiastically shared his love of archery and shooting sports with his children and grandchildren. From his youth he loved motorcycles and could be seen around town riding on any nice day, and took many longer trips with his friends. He was active in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troops of his son and grandsons, where he proudly assisted in many Pinewood Derby victories and enjoyed sharing high adventures with his son, Todd. He loved to travel and some of his fondest memories were trips around the country with his wife Diana, sister-in-law, Linda and brother-in-law, Dekker, in their RV. His quick wit, sense of humor, willingness to help anyone and love of life will be fondly remembered by all those who love him.

Rob is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Diana (ne'e Whisenhunt); daughter, Ainslie Drake and husband Rick; daughter, Melanie Edens and Travis Smith; son, Todd Edens and his wife Charity; sister Betty Salverson; mother-in-law Jean Whisenhunt. Rob was most proud of his three grandchildren, Jacob, William and Benjamin.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Thursday, February 14, at First United Methodist Church, 1115 S Boulder Ave W, Tulsa. Expressions of love and sympathy may be made to Clarehouse Hospice, 7617 S Mingo Rd, Tulsa, OK 74133.
