Obituary
Robert E. Hyer, Jr., passed away February 18, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after an extended illness.
He was born August 1, 1940, to Vendetta (Walker) Hyer and Robert E. Hyer, Sr., and grew up in Michigan City, Indiana.
He married Charlene (Kowalsky) Hyer, and they had two children, Julie Lynn and Thomas John.
Robert was employed by Thermogas, a division of Mid- America Pipeline Company (Mapco), later being transferred from Indiana to Tulsa with the parent company, where he worked for more than thirty years.
After leaving Mapco in the early 90's, Robert joined the Tulsa County Treasurer's Office where he served as second deputy, retiring in 2002.
Robert is survived by his son Thomas and wife Tracy; grandchildren Rob (wife Amber) Hyer, Michael (wife Jackie) Hyer, Trinity Hyer, all of LaPorte, Indiana; Christine (husband Severyn) Polakiewicz of Seattle, WA, and Shannon Reilly of Sunnyvale, CA. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Hyer of Warsaw, Indiana.
He is predeceased by his daughter Julie Reilly of Sunnyvale, CA, his parents, and a brother Richard.
Robert was a long-time member of First Methodist Church, Tulsa, and of the Tulsa Downtown Kiwanis Club.
A memorial service in Indiana will be at a later date.
