Obituary

Robert Fredric Marchbank was born October 7th, 1940, in Washington, Missouri, and passed away May 20th, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert V. and Martha (Danielson) Marchbank, and his sister Constance Conrad. He is survived by his wife Dee Anne Marchbank, daughter Lori Anne Sample, son-in-law Richie Sample, son Robert S. Marchbank, grandchildren Evelynne and Ethan Sample, nephew Kyle Conrad, nieces Alisa Conrad and Janet Henderson, and great-nephews and nieces.
The family moved to Tulsa in the 1950s where they attended Southminster Presbyterian Church, where Robert later in life served as a deacon. He graduated from Edison High School in 1958, received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Tulsa, and attended three years of medical school at the University of Oklahoma.
He was drafted by the Army in 1966 and served at Fort Bragg in North Carolina as a medic for two years.
He married Dee Anne in 1977 and they had two children. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He worked as a Medical Technologist in the Blood Bank at Hillcrest Medical Center for 44 years. He also taught evening classes at Tulsa Community College for several years, teaching phlebotomy to nursing students. He also gave Career Tours to middle school students at Hillcrest.
He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man. He later served as the president of the Southeast Tulsa Jaycee's. He was a member of the Tulsa Archaeological Society and the Tulsa Rock and Mineral Society.
His interests included collecting model trains, Native American arrow heads, coins, books, and stamps. He enjoyed studying archaeology, American military history, and attending TU football games. He enjoyed listening to many kinds of music from opera to classic rock. He volunteered playing Santa Claus at Childrens' Medical Center for several years, and he once impersonated Elvis Presley at a Hillcrest event.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23rd from 4pm to 6pm at Moore Funeral Home, Southlawn Chapel. The memorial service will be held Friday, May 24th at 11am at Southminster Presbyterian Church, with a grave side service immediately following at Memorial Park Cemetery.
