Robert Clinton McCay passed away on June 1, 2015, at the age of 94, after a long, happy, and successful life. He was born on March 23, 1921, to Robert Clinton (Jr.) and Lyda Grace Baker McCay. A native Tulsan, Bob grew up with his parents, brother and sister in various neighborhoods of the city and graduated from Central High School in 1938. He worked to put himself through the University of Tulsa (TU) and graduated in 1944 with a Bachelors degree in Chemistry with honors. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, defending Hawaii from invasion, as he often reminded inquirers. After being honorably discharged, he obtained a Masters of Sciences degree in petroleum refinery engineering from TU in 1947, then a distinguished alumnus award in 1980, and was inducted into the TU Engineering and Applied Sciences Hall of Fame in 1985.

Bob spent his entire career with Texaco Inc., moving from small refineries in Montana and Illinois to the executive suites in New York and Europe before retiring in 1986 as a Senior Vice President and Chairman of its Getty Oil Company subsidiary. He traveled the world working in all aspects of the international oil and gas business, with a concentration in financial matters in his later years.

In 1952, Bob married Elizabeth Brewton Skillman (Skilly) and they became proud parents of a son and two daughters. They spent most of their parenting years in Darien, Connecticut, where, in 1978, Skilly died of breast cancer at age 55. In 1981, Bob married Karen Willoch, herself a widow originally from Denmark, and they moved to Tulsa in 1988 after his retirement.

When he returned to Tulsa, Bob took active roles at TU, the First Presbyterian Church, and the Inverness Village retirement community, where he passed away while enjoying a glass of wine with Karen. During his retirement, Bob and Karen built a vacation house on Grand Lake, where they enjoyed entertaining friends and family. They also traveled extensively, visiting all seven continents, often with friends and relatives. Bob enjoyed new adventures and immersed himself into different cultures, riding river boats and elephants alike with aplomb. He was also an avid Golden Hurricane supporter, holding season tickets to football and basketball games.

Bob is survived by wife Karen of Tulsa; brother Paul McCay and partner Bob Seese, of Oklahoma City; sister Marcia Goodman, of Norman; son R. Scott McCay and daughter-in-law Rebecca, of Houston, Texas, with granddaughter Taylor Klavan; daughter Elizabeth (Lisa) Equi and son-in-law Robert (Bud), of Madison, Connecticut, with granddaughter Ashley Equi and grandson Kyler Equi; and daughter Margaret (Peggy) Whittington and son-in-law Barry, of Oklahoma City, with granddaughter Chloe Whittington and grandsons Matthew, Robert, and Taylor Whittington.

Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa, 709 S. Boston Ave., on Saturday, June 6 at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, Bob's family encourages contributions to TU, First Presbyterian Church, or Inverness Village retirement community. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
