Obituary

Robert (Bob) McCoy, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024 at the age of 77. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his joy in the game of golf and his enthusiastic support for his favorite sports teams.

Born on December 16, 1946 in Red Oak, Iowa to Donald and Betty McCoy, Bob grew up with a spirit of hard work and dedication that he carried throughout his lifetime. He was the devoted husband of Marcia McCoy for 54 years. Together they raised a loving family, which includes their son Rob McCoy and their daughter Jenny Sallman. Rob, married to Heidi, has two children, Cade and Grace. Jenny, married to Chad also has two children, Drew and Audrey. Bob found immense joy in being a father and grandfather and especially loved attending everyone's sport activities.

Bob's life was a testament to his kindness, humility and staunch support for his loved ones. He had a genuine nature and a quiet strength that he brought to his family and friends.
A simple man with an appreciation for life's small pleasures, Bob found peace and happiness on the golf course, where he spent time perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of friends. His love for sports extended to his fervent support of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Kansas City Royals with whom he celebrated many victories and weathered many defeats.

After 43 years, Bob retired from Burlington Northern Railroad. He worked for BNSF in Lincoln, Nebraska and Kansas City, Missouri and then finished his career in Tulsa, OK. He was known for his integrity and dedication, qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. He was also in the Navy, where he served in Japan. Yet, it was his role as a father and grandfather that truly defined him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family and the many friends who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family has asked that, if you are so moved, to please donate to the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society in Bob's name to help further the research in stopping these terrible disorders.
