Robert Harold Parker was born in Tulsa on June 23, 1953, to Charles and Zelpha Ruth Parker. Surrounded by loving family and friends, his Lord and Savior healed his pain and took him home on Friday, November 13, 2015. Robert graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1971. He was a member of Civil Air Patrol, Latin Club and choir while in high school. He joined Yale Ave. Presbyterian Church at age twelve, and proudly served many years as an usher. He received his bachelor's degree in Zoology from the University of Tulsa in 1975, and his bachelor's degree in Nursing from East Central University in Ada, OK in 1980. While at TU, he DJ'd "Music of the Masters" at KWGS, and developed a loyal following of listeners who enjoyed his voice. Bicycling was one of his two greatest passions; his bicycle was his main form of transportation, and he participated in numerous rides including Freewheel Oklahoma, and MS rides. His other passion was flying. He obtained his private pilot's license, and escaped to the skies as often as possible. Robert had a long and interesting career as a Registered Nurse, including Cardiac Care, Vision Quest, Home Health, Traveling Nurse and most recently as Camp Nurse with Boy Scouts of America. Robert's DeLorean and 1938 Buick were his pride and joy. He belonged to several clubs, including the DeLorean Club, with whom he traveled to Ireland several times, and the Buick Club. Robert was always available to lend a helping hand to others. whether it was caring for family members, who were ill, or handyman chores, or repairs to bikes or autos. He had a soft spot in his heart for both people and animals that suffered. His faith was deep and unwavering. In March, he donated his 75th unit of blood. Robert's sense of humor and mastery of the Pun was legendary. His humor never failed him, even in his illness. His father Charles Parker, preceded him in death. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Zelpha Ruth Parker, brother John Parker, sister Joan Parker Siple and husband Don Siple. nephew Benjamin Siple and an uncountable number of friends and extended family, including Don Siple (Sr.), Art and Pam Stefinini, and best friend Ron Underwood. Also missing him will be Cara, Carmen, Gidget, Cinderella, Thumbelina, and King Tut. The family gratefully thanks Dr. Weibel, and the excellent and loving staff of St. Francis 7 West, 4 Tower and ICU. The family suggests donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Boy Scouts of America, or any charity of your choice.
