Obituary

Robert James Summers was born on August 14, 1934, in Chelsea, Oklahoma, to Rollie D. Summers and Lillian Louise Hughes Summers. He graduated from Chelsea High School in May 1952. He attended Oklahoma A&M University where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. It is here that he met the woman who would later become his wife. Bob transferred to the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy, from where he graduated in 1957. He was a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He married his wife Beverlyn on his 21st birthday, August 14, 1955. They were married for 63 years.


Bob owned and operated Summers Pharmacy in Tulsa, Oklahoma from January 1965 until May 1994. He was a recipient of many honors and awards, including the Beinfang Award for Outstanding Practitioner. Bob and Beverlyn have been active members of Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa for 53 years. Bob served for 35 years with the Red Cross of America and was an active member of the Disaster Action Team. He served the Red Cross in a number of leadership positions and received the William H. Probst Member Award.


Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He is preceded in death by his father, Rollin D. Summers. He is survived by his mother, Lillian Louise of Claremore; his wife, Beverlyn Summers; his son Bo Summers and daughter-in-law Sherri; his son Blair Summers and daughter-in-law Christy; his grandchildren Patrick and Kendra Fincannon, Robert "Trey" Summers, and Kylee Summer; and great-grandchildren Lillian Fincannon, Hattie Fincannon, and Brody Summers.

Started two programs which are still on going.

Member National Association of Retail Druggists
Served on Byrd Community Scholl board.
Served on several committees and Board President

Graduated from Tulsa Citizens Police Academy
Served one and half terms as President of Academy Alumni Association
Received Citizen of the Year Award

30 plus years service with American Red Cross..
An active member of the Disaster Action Team
Received Outstanding member ward- William Probst Award.
Served on Team Leadership committee
Served two terms as Team Chairman.
Served two terms as Volunteer Committee
Member of the National Disaster Response Team
Percipient of American Red cross "Every Day Hero Award".

Tulsa Fire Department Outstanding Citizen Award

Received recognition on the floor of the State Capital helping with the Adams Astor
relief during Oklahoma City bombing.

Member of Board of Directors Visiting Nurse Association.

Member State of Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy
