Roberta "Bobbie" Lucille Lewis was born April 13, 1932 in Bethany, OK, to Robert and Ruth Elms. Roberta passed away peacefully at her home on November 9, 2016 at the age of 84. She was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother, Doyle Elms. Roberta graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City. She attended Stephens Women's College in Columbia, MO, where she met her husband of 44 years, while he attended University of Missouri. He proceeded her in death in 1996. The Lewis's moved to Oklahoma in 1953. Hillis began his career with Douglas Air Craft and they became members of the First Christian Church, and Double Ring Sunday School Class, where they grew in faith and made lifelong friends. For many years Roberta was at home raising her three children. In 1966, Roberta returned to school and graduated with her Music degree and began her piano teaching career as a certified member of the Music Teachers Association and The National Guild of Piano Teachers. Roberta was an amazing piano teacher who dedicated her career to hundreds of young people as she continued teaching to the day of her death. During her 50 years of teaching, she led her students to great accomplishments in music and in life. Not only did she support her students, but she supported and remained involved with other teachers in the association during her entire career. In 1986, Roberta and Hillis opened a new door in their lives, taking their first trip overseas to explore Europe. This was an inspiration that influenced Roberta to international travels and experiences that she shared with all of us through her written and beautiful photo journals. Survivors include her three children; Robert Waide Lewis (Becky) of Sacramento, CA, Linda Sue West (Ben) of Pawhuska, OK, and Scott Arlen Lewis of Broken Arrow, OK; her four grandchildren; Christopher Lewis of New London, MO, Jeffrey Lewis, of Sacramento, CA, Alana Smietanski (Joseph) of Dallas, TX, and Alexia Cirillo (Chris) of Portsmouth, RI; great-grandchildren; Leighton McKinnish of Sacramento, CA and Xander Smietanski of Dallas, TX. These were all the most important people in her life.
