In Loving Memory of Roger Lee Haggard
October 25, 1947 - July 5, 2023
Roger Lee Haggard, a devoted follower of Christ, journeyed to his heavenly home on July 5, 2023, at the age of 75. Born on October 25, 1947, in Tulare, California, to the late Ethmer B. Haggard and Madalyn M. (McKinney) Haggard, Roger's life was a testament to his faith and commitment to his family.
After graduating from McClain High School in 1965, Roger pursued his education at North Eastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he majored in economics. Shortly after graduation, he crossed paths with the love of his life, Sandra Kay Boyd. On March 25, 1972, Roger and Sandra were joined in holy matrimony in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Roger's professional journey led him to the thriving business of his father-in-law, Tasman Corporation, where he established a successful career in custom home building. Over three decades, Roger became one of Tulsa's most renowned and respected home builders, leaving an indelible mark on the community he served. In 1999, Roger ventured into a new endeavor, founding Mid South Petroleum, which he skillfully operated until its acquisition by the Seneca Companies of Des Moines, Iowa, in 2011. Following this transition, Roger embraced retirement, relishing in his favorite pastimes of fishing at his cherished lake house, playing golf, and engaging in spirited card games with his friends at Cedar Ridge Country Club.
However, the true joy of Roger's retired years lay in the delight he found in his grandchildren. As a proud Papa, he cherished every moment spent with them, witnessing their pursuits and supporting them in all their endeavors. His legacy of love, wisdom, and encouragement will forever resonate within their hearts.
Roger now joins his loved ones who preceded him in death, including his infant daughter, Carmen Haggard, his father, Ethmer B. Haggard, his mother, Madalyn M. Haggard, his brother, Kent H. Haggard, and his brother, Mark A. Haggard.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 51 years, Sandra Haggard, and his brother, Mike Haggard of Chelsea, Oklahoma. Roger's pride and joys, his son Chris Haggard and his wife Tennyson (Edwards) Haggard of Waukee, Iowa, and his daughter and son-in-law, Marty and Courtney (Haggard) Mitchell of Ozark, MO, will forever hold him close in their hearts. Roger's cherished grandchildren, Harper, Ellie, Jack, George Haggard and Madison, Colt, and Reagan Mitchell, will forever carry his spirit with them as they continue to pursue their passions in life.
Roger Lee Haggard will be remembered as a faithful servant of God, a loving husband, a devoted father and grandfather, and a man of great integrity. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace in the loving embrace of our Lord.
Memorial Service will be 10AM, Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 3612 East 91st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma with a reception to follow.
