Rollie Lewis Lowe was born on June 28, 1941 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He passed away on January 7, 2025 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Rollie attended school in Bartlesville, graduating from College High School in 1959.
Rollie attended Oklahoma State University before joining the U.S. Navy in 1960. His first 3 years were on overseas assignments in the West Pacific. His last duty was aboard an ice breaker which sent him to both the North and South Pole. As a result of sailing across the equator on this deployment, Rollie completed the Line Crossing Ceremony rituals to become a "Shellback" in centuries old Naval tradition.
In 1960 Rollie married C.K. "Charlie K" Edwards. Upon returning from Navy service in 1964 they made their home in Kansas City. As a result, Rollie became a lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan of more than 60 years. Rollie and Charlie K had one daughter, Lari Lynn Lowe, born in 1969. Her birth was quite an event being the first girl born into the family in 3 generations. Her arrival even eclipsed Neil Armstrong walking on the moon for the Lowe family that week!
Rollie was employed in a variety of sales positions during his working years. One highlight was going to the Indianapolis 500 as one of the sponsor representatives in the pit of legendary racer Dan Gurney. Rollie belonged to several civic organizations over the years including Rotary, Civitan International, and Toastmasters.
The family would like to acknowledge Jim Brown and the staff at the Elk City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness and professionalism in caring for Rollie his final years. They provided him the best quality of life possible on a daily basis for which we are grateful.
Rollie was preceded in death by parents Margaret Lewis Lowe and Jo Allyn Lowe. He is survived by his daughter Lari Lowe Gulley of Bartlesville, grandson Tag Gulley of Bartlesville, brothers Marty Lowe and Dean Lowe of Bartlesville, brother Don Lowe of Tulsa along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held later with burial to be conducted in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
