Obituary

Ronald Lee Skinner, born May 15, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 25, 2026.

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Oklahoma State University, Ron built a forty-year career in human resources, serving as Vice President of Human Resources in the aerospace, defense, and technology industries.

In the 1970s, he raced enduro motorcycles in the California desert, and in later years he enjoyed playing golf at courses across the country. But his greatest pleasures were often the simplest: spending time with family, especially visits from his granddaughters and great-grandsons.

The family's Father's Day train trip in 2026 was particularly meaningful to him, and he spoke of it lovingly until his final days. Ron also enjoyed international travel with family. Among his most treasured experiences was a 1978 pilgrimage to Israel and other Mediterranean countries with Nancy and several members of his church.

Above all, Ron's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life, guiding his words, actions, and relationships with others. For the last two years of his life, he wore a bracelet bearing Galatians 5:22-23, never once taking it off. His life reflected the words of that passage: The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Nancy Skinner (née Oldfield); daughter Laura Godel (née Skinner) (Tom Kowitz); granddaughters Danielle Cantrell (née Campbell) (Cole Cantrell) and Hannah Godel (fiancé J.J. Kazempour); great-grandsons Jacob Cantrell and Benjamin Cantrell; brothers John Hillman Skinner (Kathy) and Robert Skinner (Deborah); and sisters Wanda Plumlee (née Skinner) (Glenn Plumlee) and Lois Lytle (née Skinner) (David Lytle). He was preceded in death by his father, Volney Skinner, and mother, Chris Skinner (née Knudson).

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Tulsa Bible Church, 5838 S. Sheridan Road in Tulsa, where Ron and Nancy were members for many years. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Crossover Scholarship Fund.
