Ronda Leigh (Mitchell) Norton was born on February 16, 1943, in Tulsa, OK to Fred and Elsie Marie (Lininger) Mitchell. She passed away peacefully on February 24, 2023, in Tulsa, OK with her family by her side.
Ronda was a graduate of Edison High School, class of 1961, and received her BA in Education from the University of Arkansas in 1965. Ronda taught elementary school in St. Louis, MO before returning to Tulsa to marry her high school sweetheart, James "Jim" Curtice Norton. A tireless volunteer, Ronda believed strongly in giving back to the community that was so good to her, and was involved in many civic and charitable causes, including: the Junior League of Tulsa, Tulsa Boys' Home, Tulsa Opera, Tulsa Philharmonic, Santa's House, Ronald McDonald House and the American Heart Association. She was also an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Ronda loved to travel, especially when it involved her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was deeply devoted to making sure those closest to her were taken care of, always putting their needs before her own. She is survived by her husband of over 56 years, Jim; her three daughters, Christen Trussell (Dee), Melanie Cheek and Leslie Croteau (David); her eight grandchildren, Audrey and Christian Trussell, Chloe, Courtney and James Taylor Cheek, and Christopher, Charlie and Cooper Croteau; her brother, Fred Mitchell Jr.; her sister, Nancy Mai (Chuck), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be deeply missed by all.
There will be a private family service and burial on Friday March 3, 2023. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to the charity of their choice in Ronda's memory.
