Ronnie J. Whorton passed away Friday, March 11th in Tulsa Oklahoma. Ronnie was born July 31st, 1940 to Ted Whorton and Irene Brown in Hollis Oklahoma. Ronnie graduated from Broxton High School in before attending and graduating from Oklahoma State University, Okmulgee with a degree in Diesel Mechanics. While attending OSU, Ronnie met the love of his life, Lyne Walker at Cross Town Pentecostal Church. After marrying, the couple and daughter Cheri moved to Tulsa so Ronnie could pursue his career. Ronnie retired from Frontier International trucks after 43 years as a diesel mechanic. The couple have been members and actively involved in Evangelistic Temple, now Spirit Life Church for more than 57 years. The couple loved to travel and were blessed to visit the Holy Land, Europe, Hawaii, multiple cruises, canoe trip adventures and bus tours across the US. Some of Ronnie's fondest memories was being rebaptized in the Jordan River by his nephew. Ronnie was a lover of all sports as a player, coach and tv analyst. Ronnie simply loved people, loved his personal family and his church family. Always seen with a smile, Ronnie was potentially the nicest man on the planet and will be missed by many.
Preceded in death by wife of 58 years, Lyne Whorton of Tulsa. Ronnie is survived by daughter Cheri Rhoades of Tulsa, grandchildren Blake and Paige Whorton and their parents Lance and Belinda Whorton of Tulsa, sister Sherri Palesano of Fort Cobb and brother Bobby Whorton of Hollis and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
