Longtime Tulsa school teacher, RoseElla Misch, of Tulsa, passed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, October 20, 2014, at the age of 87 after a brief illness.
She is survived by her three daughters, Ellen Morelock of Danbury, CT, Laura Watt of Golden, CO, and Alice Burkett of Drumright. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Kyle Hensley of Broken Arrow and Holly Hensley of Tulsa, Anna-Laura Wilhelm of Baltimore, MD, and Mark Morelock of the Bronx, NY, and one great-grandchild, Seth Hensley of Broken Arrow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edward Misch.
A Tulsa native, she was born RoseElla Kirkpatrick on January 9, 1927 to A.M. and Daisy Kirkpatrick. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1944, and went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University in 1948 with a double major in Spanish and Business. She was a life member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
RoseElla married Frank Misch in August, 1948. Mr. Misch was a sound engineer at KOTV and later owned the Tulsa Printing Company. He finished his career with Oil Capital Printing.
In 1964, Mrs. Misch began teaching Spanish at Edison Junior High School and taught there until 1985. She earned her Master's degree in Spanish from Tulsa University in 1968 and also attended classes at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and at Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. In 1989 she began teaching at Edison High School, then at Bishop Kelley High School until she retired in 1993, ending a productive 29 year career.
She will be remembered for her strong moral values, work ethic, and determination. Her cooking skills were unsurpassed, and her home was the center of activity during all holidays. She was also an avid bridge player until the end of her life, reflecting her sharp
intellect. Her devotion as a wife, mother, and grandmother truly exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman.
Mrs. Misch was an active member with her husband of First United Methodist Church, then began attending Asbury United Methodist Church in 1988. She was an enthusiastic participant there in Sunday School, various Bible studies, United Methodist Women, the daily prayer ministry, and Tweenagers.
