Ross Randle Hill, devoted and loving husband and father passed peacefully in his sleep and entered heaven October 19, 2014. Ross was born on October 31, 1955 in Pt Arthur. Texas and grew up in Groves, Texas. He was active in Boy Scouts of America and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Ross attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1972. He had fond memories of summers at Philmont Ranch and of attending the 1969 Boy Scout National Jamboree in Idaho, where the group watched, on big screens, the first moon landing.

He attended Texas A&M University from 1974 – 1978. Ross had one semester left at A&M, when ARCO Oil and Gas hired him as an Associate Geophysicist in the Tulsa Office. He completed his degree in Geophysics and graduated from The University of Tulsa in 1981, but was always and forever an Aggie. Ross was an active Geophysicist in Tulsa for 35 years and made many friends in the Oil and Gas community in Tulsa, and all over the country.

Ross married the love of his life, Susan Darling in 1978. Ross and Susan loved to travel and took every opportunity in their early marriage to use Susan's American Airlines benefits. The two had adventures in Tahiti, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Guatemala, Hawaii and Mexico. He passed on the love of travel to his daughter Caitlin as well as his love of rock and fossil hunting. They spent many vacations looking for geodes and gems in the mountains and deserts of New Mexico and Colorado and any rock shop along the way.

Ross loved holidays especially Halloween, and the 4th of July. He was a boy at heart and entertained the neighborhood each year with his 4th of July fireworks displays. Ross was a good friend to many, and would go out of his way to help those in need.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents Jesse William and Ann Rader Hill, father in law, Jack Darling, and brother in law Steve Wilson.
He is survived by his wife, of 35 years, Susan, daughter Caitlin Lillian, twin sister, Rossan, of Pt Arthur, Texas, mother in law; Jeanelda Darling of Beaumont, Texas, sister in law Ellen Wilson of Austin, Texas, and her children, Lauren and Kyle Wilson and great niece, Lexi Laughlin; sister in law Catherine Bigler, of Austin, Texas, and her husband Kyle and their children Elizabeth and Caroline; brother in law Bill Darling of Beaumont, Texas and his wife Crissy and their children Emily, Will and John.

Memorial Services will be held October 31, 2014, 11:00 AM at Moore's Southlawn Chapel.
