Obituary

Roy Lee Ferguson, 78, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015. Roy was born in Gore,
Oklahoma on January 14, 1936. Roy was one of twelve kids. After graduating from
Gore High School, he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. After
returning home, Roy worked at Shields Music, as a sale rep for Hohner Musical
Instruments, and then at Guitar House. He and his wife Candy then opened Roy and
Candy's Music, which became a popular hangout for musicians in the area. Roy and
Candy's Music, which was open for almost 30 years, closed its doors in 2007 when Roy
retired.
Roy and Candy played western swing music together all over the nation with some of the
finest musicians in country music. Roy had his own band called the Royals and also
played with Johnnie Lee Wills and All The Boys for over 20 years. He played guitar on
The Billy Parker Show on TV. Roy was a guitar player, singer, and songwriter, and
released a solo album and an album with his wife Candy and also appeared on other
musician's records. Roy was inducted into the Southwest Western Swing Hall of Fame, as
well as, the Seattle and Sacramento Western Swing Hall of Fames.
Roy is preceded in death by his father and mother, Howell Bryant Sr. and Frances (Allen) Ferguson, his son Roy Lee Ferguson Jr., and 2 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Candy Ferguson, his daughter Lisa Ryan and her husband Harry, his daughter Jackie Myers and her husband Brad, his son Chad Ferguson and his wife Angie, 7
grandkids, 5 sisters, 3 brothers, and a lot of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday,January 16, at 11 AM, Asbury United Methodist Church-Mason Chapel, 6767 S. Mingo Rd.. Viewing is Thursday, January 15 all day. Family will greet
