Obituary

Roy Lynn Harris was born April 25, 1953 in Pineville, LA. to Roy J. Harris Sr. and Mary D Alexander Harris. He was the first child to this union.

Roy was raised in Winnfield, LA. and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He attended Pine Crest School where at an early age he started playing the drums in the band. Upon his mother's death in 1964 he moved to Oklahoma City to be raised by his father and step mother. Roy attended Creston Hills Elementary, Kennedy Middle School and Douglass High School where he graduated in 1971. He also played not only the drums but the trombone and the french horn in the Douglass High School Band.

After graduation in 1971 he joined the U.S. Army where he was in the Honor Guard, serving 2 years in Fort Meed and Washington, DC. He received a Honorable Medical Discharge.

Roy met and married Sharol Reed in May of 1976, and to that union a child was born, Venecia.

Roy's only hobby was music. He was very talented and versatile in the field of music.

Roy was preceded in death by both parents, Roy and Mary Harris; 2 brothers, Anthony Maxwell and Vernon Ray Alexander. He leaves to cherish his memories, 3 sisters, Sharon Shaw (Kevin, deceased), Tayna Jones (Tevin), and Bernadetta Alexander; 2 brothers, Michael Alexander and Roy J. Harris Jr.; 1 step brother, Richard Lawley; 1 daughter, Venecia Mohammad (Courtney); 5 grandkids, 2 great grandkids and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing for Roy will be on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 8:00 AM till 10:00 AM at Moore Funeral Home - Southlawn Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Moore Funeral Home - Southlawn Chapel. Interment will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
