Obituary

Roy Lee Smoot 71 went to be with his Lord Friday April 13, 2018 at the
Forest Hills Care Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born
September 25, 1946 in Davenport, Iowa to Wilson and Lucille Smoot.
Roy attended Salem Elementary School in Salem Iowa and graduated from
Mt. Plesant, Iowa. High School in 1964. He attended Burlington Junior
College.

He Enlisted in the Air Force at 20 years old, after basic training he was
attached to the Strategic Air Command in Plattsburgh, New York then
transferred to Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha Nebraska. As a Sargent he
served as a Security Police he served two years in Vietnam and two years
Panama.

While in Plattsburgh he and met and married Pamela Dragoon, to this
union Corey Michael was born. They divorced and Roy returned to Iowa.
He met and Married Melita Woerdeman in 1975 to this union was born
Angela Lynn and Jacqueline Nicole.

Roy was in the Restaurant business in Libertyville, Iowa for several years.
He then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be a Farrier and then worked for the
City of Tulsa for 19 years as an animal control officer.

Roy is survived by his wife Melita, son Corey and wife Jodi Smoot of
Summerville, South Carolina, daughters Angela Ferguson of Tulsa,
Oklahoma and Jacqueline Smoot of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
There are 6 grandchildren Brittany, Tyler, Kaleb, Ashlyn, T.J. and
Lucky. and had 5 great grandchildren. He is also Survived by his
Sisters, Gertrude Lewis of Palmyra, Missouri and Sarah and
Husband Tom Foss of Snellville, Georgia. Sister in Laws
Jean Smoot of Laramie, Wyoming and Lee Woerdeman of
Oskaloosa, Iowa. Several Nieces and Nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Smoot, foster
brother Roger Smith. His wife's parents Henry and Ella Woerdeman
and brother in law Don Woerdeman.

Roy was one of those people would do anything for anyone, he had a
special heart for taking care of people. No task to great, no service to
small. He loved his animals especially his horses and his dogs. His
grandchildren were his pride and joy as were his children.

In lieu of flowers Friends and Family may contribute to America Diabetes
Foundation and American Heart Association.
Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday April 20, 2018 at Moore's
