Obituary

Ruby Jean Bushyhead was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, March 12, 1924, to Harrell M. and Ruby Elaine Offield. Ruby lived in Sapulpa through her early school years. She was an only child, and after moving to Tulsa, her life changed pretty dramatically when she met members of the Bushyhead family and eventually became a member of a much larger family.

Ruby and Ken Bushyhead were high school sweethearts, and they eloped in 1941 when Ruby was 17. Ken and Ruby were married for 40 years before his death in 1981.

Ruby worked for SUNOCO at the DX Refinery and the Sun Oil Building. She retired in 1981.

During their marriage, Ken, Ruby and their family enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and family time at their farm near Pineville, MO. They bought property at Bella Vista, AR, and spent almost every weekend over the course of several years relaxing with family and friends at their home there.

Ruby enjoyed attending concerts performed by Tony Bennett in 1993 and especially by Frank Sinatra in 1994.

Although she rarely spent nights away from home, she did get talked into making a trip to Las Vegas with friends from Candlestick Beach, and she went on a cruise through the Panama Canal with her good friend Bonelle.

After the death of both of their husbands, Ruby and her mother, fondly known to many as GeeGee, lived together until GeeGee's death. As GeeGee's health began failing, Ruby essentially put her own life on hold and cared for GeeGee until her death.

Ruby was a member of Kellyville United Methodist Church, RSVP Mansion House, where she volunteered several hundred hours, Chamber of Kellyville, Dogwood Garden Club, Short Ladies Club, and Quilting Club.

She was a Tulsa International Airport Ambassador, was a Certified Library Tutor, and Volunteered at Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in the gift shop for several years.

Ruby's family would like to thank the staff at Arbor Village Nursing & Rehabilitation in Sapulpa, OK, for the loving care they provided her during the last months of her life.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Edward Bushyhead and her parents Ruby & Harrell Offield.

Ruby is survived by three children, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, sixteen great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great grandchildren.

Her children are son, Kenneth Edward Bushyhead II and his wife Karen, daughter Cherokee Jane Neafus and her husband Floyd, son Bow Harrell Bushyhead and his wife D'Lynn.

Grandchildren are Karen Bushyhead Lollis and husband Bobby; Greg Bushyhead; Billy McClendon and wife Melissa; Karla Neafus McIntosh and husband Mike; Greg Bushyhead; Jennifer Conger; and Cody Bushyhead.

Great Grandchildren are James Lollis, Kimberly Lollis McCauley, Ashley Morita, Bailey McClendon, Jordan McClendon Hunter, Wade Buckner, Bow Buckner, Lee Michael McIntosh, Anthony McIntosh, and Cherokee McIntosh.

Ruby will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
