It is with joyful sorrow that we announce the homegoing of Ruby Nell Syfrett. Ruby Nell was born on Thursday, May 20, 1937, and went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 23, 2023. She was born in Alderson, OK to Charles Joseph and Ellie Mae (McCage) Houston.
Ruby Nell graduated from Central High School in Muskogee. She met Robert while in school and they married in 1955 and served the Lord together for 56 years. Ruby Nell loved her Lord, her family, her church, and Sooner football. She was a healthcare technician and took great pride in caring for her patients. She often talked of having "board meetings" where she ironed her uniforms for work. She served in the benevolence ministry at church, helping the homeless and people in need, and served in the bereavement ministry, coordinating meals for funerals and families having health issues. On her last Sunday (June 11) at church she was in the nursery caring for babies so their parents could be in worship.
Ruby Nell was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, daughter Cathy Nunn, granddaughter Heather Nunn, brother Charles Joseph Houston, Jr., sister and brother-in-law Hazel and Marion Griffin, and nephew Dan Houston. She is survived by her close friend Bob McKim, son-in-law David Nunn, granddaughter Connie Nunn, nephew Charles Joseph Houston III, niece Candy Spears and husband Danny, nephew Rex Griffin and wife Becky, and many other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested a donation be made to the children's ministry of Memorial Baptist Church, 2800 S Yale Ave, Tulsa, OK 74114.
