Russell Dale Allen, 56, of Tulsa, died Thursday, July 6, 2017. He was born January 30, 1961 in Tulsa to Ernest Adell Allen and Nell Rose Cannon. He was a 1979 graduate of Tulsa Hale High School and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1984. After achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Russ retired in 2010 from the United States Navy after serving in Mayport and Pensacola, Florida, Washington D. C., Diego Garcia, and Iraq. Russ was completing an associate degree in medical coding from Tulsa Community College at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his dad Ernest Allen in 2011.

Russ was an avid fan of OU football, Tulsa Drillers baseball, and Tulsa Oilers ice hockey, and served as a volunteer at polling places for the Tulsa Election board.

Russ is survived by his mother Nell Rose Allen of the home; his brother Eric and wife Janet Allen of Tulsa; his brother Randy Allen of Great Bend, Kansas, and his Siberian Husky Jake. Additional survivors include his Aunt and Uncle Norma and Don Thomas of Verdigris; his cousins Sharon LeHew and husband Jan, Mike Thomas and his wife Joyce of Brooklyn, New York, Robert Thomas of Grove, Oklahoma, Lisa Ling and husband Silo of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Nancy Rowe and husband Tom of Tulsa.

Viewing will be Monday, July 10, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the family will greet visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st Street, Tulsa. The Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Owasso Children's Home are appreciated.
