Obituary

Ruth Wahlelle Coates Bauer went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 18, 2015. She was born on April 22, 1933 in the Lynn Lane Community in Tulsa County. Ruth was the daughter of Paul and Imogene Coates. Her father was a school teacher and the Coates family moved to Broken Arrow in 1946. Ruth was a graduate of BA High School class of 1951 and went on to OU where she earned a secretarial degree and was a lifetime member of the
Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She worked for Helmerich & Payne for 20 years.

She met Don R. Bauer in 1953 and they were married on February 27, 1955. Ruth adopted Don's son, Don Jr. shortly after they married. Later their daughter Brenda was born in 1958. Don's long time job with Sun Oil Co. took them to West Des Moines IA, Livonia Ml, St Louis MO and then back to Tulsa in 1981. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cooperate wife. She loved sports, traveling and being with her extended family. She was a long- time volunteer at St. Francis hospital. Don and Ruth are long time members at Asbury United Methodist Church and the Joy Community.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and son Don Jr. Ruth is survived by her husband Don of 60 plus years, her daughter Brenda Wheat, grandson Sam Bauer, granddaughter Cara and Melvin Phillips, great-grandchildren Clayton, Carsyn, Chloe, and Charlotte Phillips, daughter in-law Nancy Bauer, all of the Tulsa area, her brothers, Russell & Margaret Coates of Sherman TX, and Paul & Jane Coates of Mill Creek WA, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Memorial service will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Asbury United Methodist Church-Mason Chapel, 6767 S. Mingo, Tulsa, OK.
