Ruth Crane Ferguson, 87, died Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ruth was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 26, 1928, to O.E. Hunt, Jr. and Elsie Caroline Hunt. She lived in Cleveland, Ohio until the family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1945. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1946 and attended the University of Tulsa where she was active in various campus activities and was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She completed her secretarial science certificate and attended the University of Tulsa College of Law.
She married Charles B. Crane of Independence, Kansas on December 28, 1951. They lived in various cities but finally settled in Tulsa where Ruth completed a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Industrial Psychology from the University of Tulsa. A believer in life long education, she received her Doctor of Education Degree from Oklahoma State University in 1989. She owned her own consulting service firm focused on employment matters with an expertise in improving hiring procedures, training, testing and validation and employee relations. She served clients throughout the area until she became the Employee Relations Manager at QuikTrip Corporation in 1979. She later returned to consulting until her retirement.
She married Paul M. Ferguson on November 25, 1989 in Tulsa. They have been active members of All Souls Unitarian Church and other organizations through their life together. Ruth served as the Chair of Tulsa's Civil Service Commission in the 1970s. She was selected to Leadership Tulsa in 1975. She has remained active in various groups and organizations in the Tulsa Community, most recently having served on the Board of Trustees of All Souls Unitarian Church. She also remained active in the Rogers High School Alumni Class of 1946, and the Phi Mu sorority. She actively participated in the Evening Alliance and Day Alliance at All Souls.
She is preceded in death by her parents O. E. Hunt, Jr. and Elsie Caroline Hunt and by her first husband, Charles B. Crane. She is survived by her husband Paul M. Ferguson of Tulsa; her sister, Lois Bridwell; her daughter, Cynthia Troia of Omaha, Nebraska and her husband Carl J. Troia, Jr.; her son Charles Bretton Crane and his wife Cheryl Ann Crane of Tulsa; stepdaughter Cathy Cushing of Portland Oregon; grandchildren Carl J. Troia, III and his wife Toni of Omaha, Nebraska, Paul M. Troia and his wife Margaret of Chicago, Illinois, Michelle Marie Hogan and her husband Max Hogan of Omaha, Nebraska, Charles Bretton Crane, Jr. of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Caroline Elizabeth Crane of Lexington, Kentucky, Meredith Cushing and Caitlyn Cushing of Portland Oregon and three great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Ruth's life will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, November 6, 2015 at All Souls Unitarian Church, 2952 S. Peoria, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
