Obituary

Ruth Aleene Gilkey passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 in Oklahoma City at the age of 91.
Ruth Aleene Gilkey was born May 7, 1926 in Lowry City, MO to John Cliffton Sullivan and Savilla Alba (Bales) Sullivan. She was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She worked as a bookkeeper and cashier, retiring in 1978. During her retirement she worked four summers at Glacier National Park as a General Cashier in the National Park's bank. For over 20 years her and her husband spent part of the winter either in Arizona or Florida.
She married Leslie Ray Gilkey on October 14, 1944 in Emporia, KS. To this union two children were born. Gary Sullivan Gilkey and Gina Gail Care. She was blessed with two granddaughters. Reileene T. Lane of Inola, OK and Kelsey L. Care of Edmond, OK. One great-granddaughter, Allison L. Lane, and one great-grandson, Jeremy Sullivan Winkel, both of Inola, OK.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Those preceding her in death are her father, mother and husband, Leslie R. Gilkey, with whom she was married for 56 years. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Gina G. and Kevin L. Care of Edmond, OK ; son Gary S. Gilkey of Tulsa; granddaughters, Reileene T. Lane and Kelsey L. Care; and great-grandchildren, Allison L. Lane and Jeremy S. Winkel, and several nieces and nephews; and one sister, Helen Lawson of Nevada, MO.
