Ruth was the youngest of nine children born to Ernest O. Kelton and Sudie Chapman Kelton on November 23, 1935. She was raised on the family farm in Maple OK and at a young age was saved by faith in Christ Jesus at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Ruth graduated from Central High School in Sallisaw OK where she was a proud member of the school choir and the Gospel Melody Girls quartet who frequently performed on KWHN radio in Ft. Smith AR.
In 1953 Ruth relocated to Tulsa OK for work where she met the love of her life, Robert H. "Bob" Ladd at Easton Heights Baptist Church. Bob and Ruth were married in 1956 and they had two children Carrie Ann and Robert Gregory.
Throughout her life, Ruth served as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and dedicated member of Easton Heights Baptist Church where she continued to enjoy her love of singing and serving others in the community. Outside of the home she enjoyed many years working at Amerada Hess, Sooner Federal Savings, and the University of Tulsa where she retired from work.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Robert H. "Bob" Ladd; parents Ernest O. Kelton and Sudie Chapman Kelton; brothers Herman Kelton, Fred Kelton, Wayne Kelton; sisters, Lola Dean Kelton, Vedith Kelton, Marie Birkes, and Wilene Shierloh.
She is survived by her sister Wanda Reding of Houston, TX; daughter Carrie Strong and her husband Jim of Branson, MO; son Greg and his wife Kim of McKinney, TX; granddaughter Ashley Munn and her husband Kris and their children Kherington and Hudson of Waco, TX; grandson Robert Strong and his wife Morgan and their children Tolson and Ellis Ann of Fayetteville, AR; and numerous nephews and nieces.
