Ruth Virginia Meck of Tulsa passed away on March 25, 2014 at 90. She was born on March 2, 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the Reverend Harold V. and Anna L. Bush Hartsough. She graduated from Pasadena High School and Occidental College in California with a degree in Music Education. She taught music in Coalinga, California where she met and later married Arthur G. Meck. They were married for 58 years.
In addition to raising her 4 children, Ruth sang in her church choirs and served as volunteer Director Tulsa Southside Meals on Wheels for over 35 years. She was a long time member of Kirk of the Hills, Tulsa Angel Club and SAI music fraternity, and also enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Linda Podbielski and husband Ben from Murfreesboro,Tennessee; son Stan Meck and wife Louise from Littleton, Colorado;
daughter-in-law, Ann Hartman of Austin, Texas; son Brian Meck and wife Susan from Prairieville, Louisiana, and sister Mary Lou from San Pedro, California. She's also survived by 11 Grandchildren and 13 great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by Arthur G. Meck, her son Kenneth A. Meck, her parents, brother Harold Hartsough, sisters Ethyl Hall and Beverly Moulton.
Ruth was a very caring person who always wore a friendly smile while serving others. Her strong faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the foundation for her caring heart.
The family is especially grateful to the staff of Montereau Health Center and St. Francis Hospice where she received loving care.
