Sammy Lynn Hollinger May 30, 1942 - June 22, 2025
Tulsa, Oklahoma lost a remarkable man with the passing of Sammy Lynn (Sam) Hollinger, who died peacefully at home on June 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old.
Sam was born on May 30, 1942, in Caldwell, Idaho, to Sam Hollinger and Billy Lee Bruner Speck. On September 15, 1961, he married the love of his life, Norma Sue Northcott, in Tulsa. Their marriage of 64 years was filled with love, laughter, and family.
Sam is survived by his wife Norma, and their four children: Kimberlea Lynn Hollinger Villio, Gregory Speck Hollinger, Robert Samuel Hollinger, and Randall Scott Hollinger. He was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Abbi Marie, Lance Christian, Adam Cole, Samuel Ryan, Kathryn Grace, Robert Samuel II, Megan Lee, Carson Rae, Chloe Elizabeth, Jackson Anthony, Brittany Hannah, and William Tanner. His legacy continues through five great-grandchildren: Layla, Rosie, Charlie, Lakota, and Henry.
He is also survived by his siblings Bob Hollinger, Don Hollinger, Paula Joe Speck Gray, and Toni Kay Speck Thiessen, and was preceded in death by his brother Gary Hollinger.
A devout Christian, Sam was deeply involved in his faith communities. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jenks, where he formed a meaningful relationship with Rev. Rod Masteller, and later joined First United Methodist Church of Tulsa, reconnecting with Rev. James Buskirk.
Sam's life was marked by service. He built homes for Habitat for Humanity in 1999, 2001, 2003, and twice in 2005. He was honored with the Golden Hammer Award for his work on the Eugene Field Community Makeover House. His impact extended to building the Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS) shelter in Tulsa and the Oklahoma Association of Youth Services building in Sapulpa.
Professionally, Sam was a respected custom home builder and developer. He began his career with Equitable Homes, Inc., and later founded Hollinger and Associates, Inc. Known for his integrity and quality craftsmanship, Sam developed lifelong friendships with many of his clients. In 1979, he was named Builder of the Year, and earned more than fifty Parade of Homes honors. He served as President of the Tulsa Association of Home Builders in 1981 and later became a National Director and Spike.
Sam lived life fully. He loved traveling with his family, fishing, and especially hunting-whether duck hunting in Oklahoma, goose hunting in Texas, pheasant hunting in Kansas or South Dakota, or elk hunting in Colorado and Idaho. Some of his favorite travel destinations included Hawaii, Bora Bora, Cancun, Israel, and Portugal.
Sam Hollinger's life was a testimony to faith, family, craftsmanship, and service. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The service will be Thursday, July 17th, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at Five Oaks Lodge, 528 E. 121 st Street, Jenks, OK 74037.
