Sandra J. Isakson, 89, passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa on June 13, 2025. She was born June 13, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio to Bill and Myra Isakson. The family resided in Youngstown until Sandra was college age, when they moved to Tulsa. While living in Youngstown Sandra enjoyed time with family and friends and was very active with her Lutheran church.
Sandra completed her college studies at the University of Tulsa, earning a degree in education.
Throughout her time in Tulsa Sandra continued in her Lutheran faith, for many years as a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, and most recently Joy Lutheran Church. She taught school in Michigan for one year and then returned to Tulsa to continue her teaching career. She taught first grade at Lanier Grade School for nearly forty years, positively touching the lives of thousands of young students.
Sandra loved basketball. She and dad Bill could often be found sitting courtside at a University of Tulsa or Oral Roberts game. She also loved to travel, including the many cruises that she took.
In retirement Sandra enjoyed spending time with family and friends and volunteering her time and effort in her church activities. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Myra. She leaves to cherish her memory cousins Richard and wife Kathryn Jenkins, Roger Jenkins, and Scott Jenkins, and their families, as well as her many friends.
The Lord blessed Sandra on her birthday with the greatest gift of all, eternal life in The Kingdom of Heaven. May she rest in peace. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday June 22" from 4-6PM and the Celebration of Life Service at Joy Lutheran Church on Monday June 23 at 11:00 AM. The family extends heartfelt love and gratitude to the many caregivers that provided Sandra's loving care.
