Sarah Lou Kersey Minden Obituary

Sarah Lou Kersey Minden went home to Jesus on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at age 91.

Sarah was born in a farm house in Tulsa County on November 10, 1933, to Wilma and Derby Calvin Kersey. As a child, Sarah enjoyed farm life with many pets and animals, climbing trees, playing kickball, and riding in the truck with her father to town.

Sarah was a woman of unwavering faith, whose love for the Lord shone through every aspect of her life. She was a servant-hearted person who loved God, her family, her neighbors and friends with a deep commitment. She was a prayer warrior who found strength in scripture and peace in the promises of eternal life. Sarah shared her faith through kindness, compassion, and unconditional love.

After graduating from Tulsa Central High School, Sarah attended the University of Oklahoma, where she studied art, was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, was Sigma Chi Sweetheart, and Honorary Wing Commander of the Air Force (ROTC).

Following college, Sarah lovingly raised five sons with her high school sweetheart and husband William Welch.

Sarah was a committed volunteer in the community- her work included: serving as District Chair of the Alpha Chi Omega alumni association, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School (VBS), serving as a Deaconess at First Presbyterian Church-Tulsa, and aa a Cub Scout Den Mother. Sarah had a passion for cooking and loved hosting elaborate family gatherings. She also was the proud owner of a women's clothing boutique.

Later in life Sarah shared her joy of family with husbands Jack Cornett (deceased), Leonard Houx (deceased), and Larry Minden. She also enjoyed many close friendships with her church family at West Tulsa UMC.

Sarah joins her parents and many family members waiting for her with open arms, including her sister Christina, and brothers George and David.

Sarah is survived by husband Larry Minden, sons Bill, Jr. (Theresa), Steven (Anna), Douglas (Connie), Paul, and David (D'Ann). Her Daughters-in-Law (including Nancy and Leasa) describe her as the best Mother-in-Law a person could have.

Her grandchildren; Jennifer Buller (Tom), Grace Sensintaffar (Caleb), William Taft (Reagan), Hailey, Zachary, Michael, Clayton, Nicholas (Kendall), Austin, Morgan, Ian and Josephine meant the world to her.

Great-grandchildren; Briar, Peter, Paige, Cade, Hayes, Mae, and Mia brought great joy to Sarah.

Now that Sarah has earned her heavenly reward in the arms of our Lord, we would do well to remember the way she lived her life: Putting God first, other people second, and herself third. We should also rest in the assurance that while this is the end of her physical life on Earth, it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm-4:00pm Sunday, June 1, 2025 and 4:00pm-6:00pm Monday, June 2, 2025 at Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home. 918-663-2233.
