Obituary

Sarah Catherine Robison was born February 14, 1923 in Tulsa, OK to her parents Mabel (Monroe) and John Jones. Except for a brief time in California during World War II and five years in Denver, CO, she was a lifelong resident of the Tulsa area. In Tulsa she graduated from Central High School (1940), was married to Russell Dunn, (Dec 1942) and raised her two daughters, Beverly and Sharon. Following Russell's death (Dec 1985), she married Nibert Mahan (Aug 1987) and moved to Denver; after Nibert's death (Oct 1992) she returned to Tulsa, and later married John (Jake) Robison (Sep 1995), who also preceded her in death.

Until Beverly and Sharon were married, Sarah was a homemaker. Then, she worked for AAA Auto Club for 21 years. Travel was one of her passions; she was pleased to have been in all 50 states in the US and several countries. After retiring from AAA, she volunteered at St. John's hospital in Tulsa for 19 years.

Raised in a Christian home, Sarah received Christ at age 11. She joined Tulsa Baptist Temple along with Russell in 1949 and served in various capacities through the years. She was active in TBT (now, New Heights Baptist Church) for nearly 70 years. While a resident at North County Assisted Living, she attended Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle. Sarah had a heart for Christian missions, and was a generous giver to individuals, her local church, and various charities. She often gave devotional booklets to people in shops and restaurants and used those encounters as an opening for Christian witness. Sarah enjoyed interacting with people in general, and cherished spending time with family and friends.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents Mabel Jones (Jul 1956) and John Jones (Oct 1966); husband Russell Dunn (Dec 1985); sister Evelyn (Jones) Holland (Jan 1949), brother Kenneth Jones (Oct 1992); and granddaughter Janette (Harris) Roberts (Jul 2010).

She is survived by her two daughters Beverly Brady (husband, Hugh) of Owasso, OK and Sharon Smith (husband, Arnie) of Collinsville, OK; three grandchildren: Julie (Harris) Dupont of Spring Hill, KS, Bradley Smith of Dallas, GA, Gregory Smith of Evington, VA; and five great-grandchildren: Joshua Dupont, Mikayla Dupont, Isaac Smith, Chelsea Dupont and Levi Smith.

Sarah's grit and strength were remarkable. Even at age 100 she was known to run through the halls of both North County Assisted Living and the Courtyards at Claremore-with or without her walker. Three impulses describe Sarah's life: she was a dog-lover, a giver, and above all, a people-person. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
