Shane Michael Simms was called home suddenly on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015. He was born January 9, 1990 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and at 9 lbs 3 ounces was the largest baby in the nursery that day. Shane attended his first soccer game at 3 days old. By the time he was 11 months old, he could load up and kick a soccer ball and played until he was 11 when his interests turned to extreme sports, such as skateboarding, BMX, and motocrossing. However, his first passion was fishing and he was always ready to grab his pole. He loved to work with his hands and found great pleasure in his landscaping work, building fishponds and fire pits. He was a man of few words and loved the outdoors but was always most happy to get home. He had a quirky sense of humor and an infectious laugh which he was always sharing with family and friends.
He is survived by mother, Becky (Baltes) Bates; father, Shawn Simms and wife Misty; step-dad Jon Bates and wife Angela; one daughter, Saige Michelle Simms; grandparents: Lolita Ann Baltes, Rhonda and Michael Lightner, Duane and Roxanne Eggebrecht, Larry and Corkey Simms; aunts: Shanea (Simms) Sonnier and husband Shannon, Cyndee Bailey and Rosemary Bates; uncle, Tom Baltes; brothers: Sloan and Seth Simms, Tyler Eastman, Dylan Storts and Tyler Knisley; sisters: Brianna Storts, Amber Eastman and Kenzi Knisley; cousins: Jaylla, Carson and Blake Baltes, Cody and Dillon Sonnier, Dilan Huffman, Alyssa Orcutt, and Michelle Bates. Shane was taken too soon and will be missed by numerous extended family and friends.
