MASON, Shelly Cleophus "Sonny", 86, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, in Tulsa, OK. Born June 17, 1935, in Texarkana, Arkansas to George Washington and Cordelia Lee (Williams) Mason.
He worked in the Maintenance Dept. for the Tulsa World for 35 years.

Mason was a member of the Mason Temple Church of God in Christ where playing his guitar was a gift of ministry. He was also a soloist and pianist. Mason enjoyed preaching, playing his guitar, singing, reading the Bible, and working crossword puzzles.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Mason; son, Shelly Cleophus Mason, jr.; grandson, Ronald Mason, II; twin brother, Corinthian Mason and three brothers, George Mason, Jr., Ezell Mason, and David Mason; two sisters, Dorothy Gardner and Betty Lowe. He is survived by his two daughters, Janice Mason and LaTonya Wilson (Christopher), both of Tulsa; son, Ronald Mason of Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren, LaTisa Mason, LaRisha Mason, J'Ron Mason, and J'Shon Mason of Tulsa, OK, and Camrielle Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK; sister, Roberta Newborn of Malvern, AR.

Viewing will be 10AM-8PM, Thursday, July 22, 2021 with family greeting friends from 6-8PM, both at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 23, 2021 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. Burial will be at Rolling Oaks Cemetery in Tulsa.
