Obituary

Sherryl Ann Eschbach was born August 26, 1947 in Evergreen Park, IL. She was the oldest daughter of John and Ann McKinlay.

On January 2, 2022, Sherry passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Tracy Eschbach; two younger sisters, Lindsay Donaldson and Cecily Anderson; son, Rodney Blevins and daughter-in-law Taasha; son, Kyle Blevins and daughter-in-law Cindy; 4 grandchildren, Brooke Brooks and her husband Tommy, Alec Blevins, Kylie Blevins and Chase Blevins; 4 great-grandchildren, Anna, Ezra, Nora and Iris Brooks.

Nobody that knew Sherry well would say that she was a typical woman. She was stubborn, she was talented, she had many passions, she was quirky.

Sherry was a longtime employee of the Tulsa World and Tulsa Tribune and eventually retired from there. She worked the evening shift and her son Kyle enjoyed visiting and bringing her dinner on many Friday and Saturday nights.

She loved her family and her animals possibly just as much as her family. Sherry really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially on Halloween.

She never met a plant that she couldn't grow and had an eclectic collection at every house that she lived in. She'd go to the botanical garden in just about every city that she'd visit and there are boxes of photos to prove it.

She was a really good cook but cooked less as she aged. She loved Italian and Mexican food and split pea soup.

She was passionate about art and an extremely talented artist in her own right. She sewed the majority of her life and even made a small living sewing here and there. She loved embroidery and was great at it as well. Stained glass was something that she mastered and there's no counting how many pieces of her art that she gave away over the decades.

Music was very important to her. To say that she loved Elvis would be an understatement- he was her hands down favorite. She played his records and those of her other favorites like Chicago, Neil Sedaka, Cat Stevens and so many more to her young children in the 70s and who had differing opinions about her musical tastes. She loved live music and attended concerts with her husband Tracy, who went along begrudgingly at times, and with her son Rod, who went willingly and who appreciated most of her taste in music. She had personal relationships with several local Tulsa musicians to include bluesmen Steve Pryor and Flash Terry.

She will be missed but she lives on in our memories and in her many gifts of art.
