Sheryl Ann Yates, lovingly known to many friends and family simply as Sheryl, passed away on March 28, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born in Belen, New Mexico, and throughout her life she left a lasting impression on all who knew her through her headstrong perseverance, generous spirit, and unmistakably honest opinions.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Wayne Yates, whose passing left a profound mark on her heart. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Patsy L. Rains, stepfather "Bill Rains," her birth father, Arthur Gladwell, as well as her brother, Russell Pimbley.
She is survived by her siblings: Billy Ray Gladwell, of Salis, Arkansas, Victoria Lynn Waldrop, of Alma, Arkansas, Gary Lynn Cornett Jr., of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Burt Pimbley, of Carlsbad, New Mexico. Also her "DAD" Gary Cornett Sr, and "Momma Linda" Cornett, of Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Sheryl lived in Ozark, Arkansas, where she built a life centered on compassion, independence, and love.
A devoted lover of dogs, Sheryl cherished her precious companion, affectionately known as her "Baby Girl," who brought her constant comfort and joy. Her heart for care extended far beyond animals-she was always helping others, whether driving her best friend Gay to doctor's appointments or offering steadfast support during life's difficult moments.
Sheryl had a bold personality and a deep well of love. She was known for her candid advice and strong opinions, offered with sincerity and heart. She shared a special bond with Tifany and Adam, whom she loved as if they were her own children, never hesitating to guide, protect, or encourage them.
Those who knew Sheryl will remember her as someone who spoke her mind, stood her ground, and loved fiercely. Her presence was powerful, her loyalty unwavering, and her absence deeply felt.
She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered.
