It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Mae Gingrich announce her passing on May 11th, 2016. She left this world peacefully at home in Tulsa after enduring a two-year long affliction of cancer.
Shirley was born on August 15th 1929 in St. Louis MO. to Carl and Mabel Bierdeman. As a small child her family relocated to Tulsa. Shirley was a proud member of the Rogers High School band where she met many life-long friends and the love of her life, Jerry Gingrich. The two were married in 1952 and raised three loving sons. Professionally, Shirley was a bookkeeper for several Tulsa businesses and then with her husband in their home building business in the 70's and 80's. Later in life Shirley enjoyed traveling with family and socializing with her Rogers High classmates. She participated in a local bowling league and treasured time visiting with family and playing with her great granddaughters.
The family is deeply saddened by the loss of their beloved matriarch. Shirley will be warmly remembered for her unwavering dedication to her loved ones and as an example of strength, generosity and grace.
She is proceeded in death by Jerry Gingrich, husband of 43 years, son, Gregg Gingrich and grand- daughter, Claire Gingrich, brother, Terry Bierdeman.
Shirley is survived by son, Gary Gingrich and his wife Marcia of Edmond, son, Gordon Gingrich and his wife Karen of Tulsa, granddaughter, Margaret Gingrich of Portland OR, grandson, Daniel Gingrich of Tulsa, granddaughter, Diane Gordon and her husband Zachary of Tulsa, two great-granddaughters Hadley and Harper Gordon of Tulsa, sister, Beverly Wilcox and her husband Dick, sister, Audrey Otto all of Lynchburg VA as well as many adoring nieces and nephews.
