Shirley Louvena Jackson a woman of faith and deep affection, passed away on January 12th, 2025, surrounded by loving family in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Born on July 22nd, 1939, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Shirley was the beloved mother of Robert, Jerry, and Edward Jackson. At the age of 85, Shirley's journey on Earth came to an end, leaving behind cherished memories and afasting legacy.
Shirley's upbringing was characterized by adventure and service to the community. She also enjoyed playing carefree outside on her beloved "Brushy Mountain" where she was raised by her adoring parents Christopher and Hattie Corbit. She embraced education and found her stride at Sallisaw High School where she excelled academically, graduating with class of 1956. Following graduation Shirley pursued higher education at the Wichita Secretarial college.
After many professional relocations she ultimately found her passion for customer service and worked for many years with what she called her "Walmart Family".
A woman of a service and charity she found fulfilment volunteering with various charity organizations including the Optimist Club, churches, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Shirley was also a proud member of the Cherokee Nation of Indians.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Shirley was defined by her profound love for family and love of music. While she may have appeared reserved on the surface, those who knew her understood the depth of her affection and kindness. Wherever she went in her adventures, she was always surrounded by music. She often infused her environment with her favorite Elvis hits and other classics country and gospel music.
Shirley's memory will be forever cherished by her sisters Violet, Betty, and brother Raymond, Sons Robert and Edward, their respective spouses Tracey and Caie, Grandsons Nico and Bodarc Jackson and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Edward and her son Jerry Jackson whom she loved dearly.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Shirley Louvena Jackson will be remembered not only for her spirit of service and dedication to her family, but also the warmth of her love and depth of her character. As she takes her final rest may her spirit find peace and may her memory live on in the hearts of any who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be 6-8PM, Monday, January 20, 2025 at Moore Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Funeral Service will be 12:00 P.M., Tuesday January 21, 2025 at Moore Southlawn Chapel.
