Obituary

Shirley Snelson Knowles was born September 25, 1945 to John Richard Snelson, Jr. and Eunice Hunter Snelson at their home in Coweta, Oklahoma. She had two sisters: Beverley Sue Hausam (married to Ray Hausam) and Treva J. Snelson.

She graduated Coweta Public Schools in 1963. She had several hours of business education in accounting studies and worked most of her life at Hillcrest Medical Center in the accounting/finance areas.

Her favorite bible verse was: "but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬

She loved gardening and shopping and caring for babies in the church nursery. She loved finding unusual and perfect gifts for her family, beautiful and unusual plants and flowers for her yard.

Shirley married Doyal Wesley Knowles September 4, 1985. She always said she not only married a wonderful man, but inherited the most beautiful family a woman could ever hope to have. From the first, Doyal's entire family (siblings, son and daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren) welcomed her with a wonderful warmth that she appreciated throughout her life. She was a blessing to her family and was dearly loved. She cared for and guided her family her entire life.

She is survived by her sisters, her stepson Ed Knowles, his wife Vickie Knowles, grandchildren Rodney Knowles, Todd Knowles, Mandy Knowles, Arin Haddox, great grandchildren Gracelynn Knowles, Gibson Knowles and Juliette Haddox.
