Obituary

Stephen LeGrande Davis, 59, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019. He was taken much too soon and will be deeply missed.

Steve was born in Conway, South Carolina on January 18, 1960 to Palmer McKeiver Davis, Jr. and Shelby Jean (Shelley) Davis. Growing up Steve lived in South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas, Florida and lastly in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his family.

Steve was the third child and middle brother of six children (three boys and three girls). He graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School in 1978 and attended the Tulsa Junior College and Okmulgee Tech. Steve never married and had no children but loved his family (parents, siblings, nieces and nephews) dearly. As a teenager and young man, he had a passion for anything and everything mechanical. He loved fast cars, motor cycles and was often found spending time fixing them, supping them up, or enjoying their performance. He was also a gifted artist and could draw just about anything. His preferred artistic mediums included pencil or charcoal drawings, pen and ink, and painting. Later in life, Steve came to enjoy cooking. He collected cook books, loved trying new recipes and cooking for his family on special occasions such as birthdays, and various holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Memorial Day and 4th of July).

The majority of Steve's career was spent working in the telecommunications field, much like his father. One of his first jobs was working for HTC (Horry Telephone Cooperative) in Conway, SC...again, like his father. As Steve worked to develop his career, he held various positions as project manager and construction supervisor running crews of 15 - 120 people working all across the country on underground CATV fiber optic cable and coax cable construction projects. His work frequently took him away from home for long periods of time but his homecomings were always special...often including welcome home dinners and special gifts for his mother, father, nieces and nephews. For the past five years or so, Steve committed his life and time to caring for his aging parents. He helped maintain their properties in Tulsa, OK, Vera, OK and Garden City, SC. Steve helped with the day to day tasks of grocery shopping, preparing meals, escorting them to doctor appointments and managing healthcare needs. He also accompanied them on bi-annual trips to South Carolina so they could continue to enjoy their retirement years vacationing at their beach house and visiting extended family. His dedication and sacrifice was priceless.

Left to honor Steve is his loving family....mother, Shelby Jean (Shelley) Davis; his two brothers, Palmer Wright Davis (niece: Holly Davis), and Christopher McKeiver Davis (wife: Dawn and six nieces/nephews); his three sisters, Elizabeth Strickler (husband: Eric; nieces: Stephanie Strickler, fiance Matt Dugas, Karen Curole, husband Benjamin Curole; and nephew: Allen Strickler, wife Stephanie Beach Strickler and twin great-nieces: Ellie and Josie Strickler), Melissa Whitenack (husband: Bill; niece and nephews: Kadi Whitenack, Keith Whitenack and Kylar Whitenack), Donna Davis Walden (nephew and niece: David Walden, Theresa Walden; great-grandniece: Danika Muse) and many other family members not forgotten.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Palmer McKeiver Davis, Jr. in September of this year, and his nephew, Brooks.
