Obituary

Stephen Dyer Heller, age 65, died September 7, 2020. Stephen was born August 19, 1955 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is the 2nd of 4 children born to John and Mary Ann Heller of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Ponca Military Academy in Ponca City, Oklahoma and graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa in 1974. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with an Associates degree in Accounting. He chose to make his home in Tulsa and began working with several accounting firms. While with these firms, he became a Certified Financial Planner and later certified as an enrolled agent with the IRS. This allowed Steve to represent clients as their advocate before the IRS. With this experience and training, he started his own bookkeeping and tax service. He eventually bought a directory service and named it Mid America directories.

After receiving Christ as his personal Savior and Lord, he eventually made his spiritual home at First Baptist in downtown Tulsa. He formed a strong bond with the Saints of the adult Sunday school class.

Steve was an avid OSU and OU football fan. His hobbies included collecting coins and stamps and participating in the stock market. His love for Oklahoma history led him to create the "Oklahoma room" where he would spend a lot of his time. He will be remembered for his kindnesses and his loyalty to those closest to him.

He is survived by his two younger sisters Tracy Heller of Fullerton, CA, Margaret Heller of Ponca City, OK, and his older brother John Heller II (Bobbie) of Baudette, MN. In addition, two nieces, Michelle Schuchard (Scott) of Little Rock, AR and Sarah Block (Keith) of Baudette, MN, a nephew John Heller III (Kari) of Boone, IA, four cousins, 7 grandnieces, and 5 grandnephews.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 403 S Cincinnati Ave, Tulsa, OK 74103 and Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73104 or www.omrf.org
