Steven Ray Huff, 70, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on February 27th, 2024 due to a heart attack while doing what he loved best, playing softball!
Steve was born on June 23rd, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Quannah Ray Huff and Vera June Drummond Huff, both from Alex, Oklahoma. Although he moved around as a child from Oklahoma City to California to Lawton, he ultimately spent most of his 70 years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Steve attended Tulsa Public Schools his entire childhood and graduated from Edison High School in 1971. Steve went on to obtain his bachelor's degree from The University of Tulsa. He started his career at AMOCO, then worked at The Williams Companies, including WilTel in different telecommunication management positions for 25+ years. Steve has been "retired" for the past 15 years.
Everyone who knew Steve knew that he loved softball. He played on softball teams from high school until the day he died. Steve was an avid fan of The University of Oklahoma in all sports, but especially football! He has always had a love for buying and fixing cars. His most recent project was a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air. Two years before his death, Steve had reached his goal of visiting all 50 states. Oklahoma was home, but Alaska is his favorite place in the world. Steve loved spending time with his wife of almost 35 years, 3 kids + his favorite pet, 7 grandkids, and 2 granddogs. He was very active and could be found at the gym almost daily. For the past 10 years, Steve was an active member of Life Church South Tulsa and enjoyed his Life Group the past several years.
Steve will always be remembered for his perseverance, work ethic, positive outlook, quirky sense of humor and his smile. God blessed us with a loving and caring husband, brother, dad, and best friend who will be missed every day. His memory will live in our hearts forever.
Steve is survived by his wife, Shari; his children, Stuart Huff and wife Stephanie, Marlo Keller and husband Matthew, and Mackenzie Huff; his favorite pet - Sammie girl; his 7 grandkids, Sydney Huff and husband Velican Akdag, Coleton Huff, Savannah Huff, Devan Keller, Chason Keller, and Rielyn Keller; his favorite granddogs, Blue and Thunder; his sister, Becky Etheridge and husband Steve; his sister in law, Jolene Tellgren and husband Jim as well as beloved nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his dad, Quannah Ray Huff and mom, Vera June Drummond Huff.
In lieu of flowers, any desired donations can be made to OU athletics (Boomer Sooner!) and/or Life Church. Steve did not want a funeral. A short, casual 'Celebration of Life' will be held at the field in front of Carl Smith Sports Complex (17120 E 21st St, Tulsa) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. Please wear a softball jersey or your favorite team's jersey/t-shirt! His favorite teams were his softball team, The University of Oklahoma, and the Dallas Cowboys!
