Sue P. Brothers, 88, was born in 1926 in Fordyce, AR and went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 25th, 2015.
She was a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women, New Covenant Class, Boston Avenue Square Dance Club and participated in the church's sponsorship of refugees from Burma, Cuba, Vietnam and Cambodia. Mission work in Bolivia was of special interest to her.
She was active in PEO, Church Women United, Neighbor for Neighbor, R.S.V.P., Prison Ministry at St. Luke's Methodist Church, Exodus House, Redemption Ministry and Meals on Wheels. For over 50 years, she volunteered at HMC at the Surgery Waiting Area, which she was instrumental in creating through the HMC chaplaincy program. Sue and her husband Duane served in overseas short-term mission projects working in Mexico, Jamaica, Phillipines, Bolivia, Swaziland, Peru, Equador, Honduras and Nicaragua.
Sue was predeceased by her son, Paul D. Brothers; husband, Duane E. Brothers, M.D; 2 sisters and 1 brother. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Brothers and Barbara Newbauer; best friend Darlene Lorenz; granddaughter, Ann Loretti and great-granddaughter, Belle Loretti.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at Boston Ave Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice of Mission Endowment Fund of Boston Avenue Methodist.
