Obituary

Sue Baker McBride of Tulsa, passed away 6/1/13 at 78 from cancer.



Sue was born in Tulsa to Fletcher and Lois Baker, along with brothers Fletcher, and Alvin.



Sue graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1952. She pledged Zeta Tau Alpha at OU. She received a BA from TU in 1956. She worked as a PE teacher with Tulsa Public Schools. After marrying attorney Paul McBride she joined the Ok Bar Auxiliary. Sue then became the first woman with the Ok Lake Patrol. As a pilot, She joined the "99's Organization of Women Pilots," and in 1976 flew in the very last women's air race, "The Powder Puff Derby." With her MA from NSU she taught geography and travel at OJC, TJC, and Rogers State. Later working as a travel agent. Once retired she cared for the turtles at the Ok Aquarium, adopting Oscar the tortoise.



She follows in death her husband, brothers, and daughter Maggie.



She is survived by her son Duncan McBride, his wife Julie. Daughter Mollie Rogers, her husband Mike, and granddaughters, Maddy, Sara, and Katie.



Sue is with the angels now, but will forever, "Fly for the fun of it." Quote: Amelia Earhart
