Wanda Sue (Cornish) Stephens, born October 2, 1928 in Nashville, Arkansas to Jordan and Hazel Cornish. Sue passed on peacefully December 27, 2018 just months after celebrating her 90th birthday with friends and family. Sue received her undergraduate degree from Arkansas Tech in Russellville and her Master's Degree from Northeastern State University. Sue lived in the Tulsa area for 65 years, beginning her teaching career at Hillcrest Hospital, working with Polio patients and later taught Special Education many years at Jane Adams Elementary. Sue was a member of Will Rogers Methodist Church. She loved needle work, collecting, crafts and travel, but her greatest enjoyment came from being with her family.
Sue is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry E. Stephens and survived by her son and daughter-in-law Don and Terri Stephens of Porter, OK; son and daughter-in-law Norman and Regina Stephens of Porter, OK; daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Shannon Simmons of Broken Arrow, OK as well as four grandchildren; Misti Stephens, Mitchell Simmons, Hannah Marquette and Kristen Simmons; two great grandchildren Rowen and Rory Putnam-Stephens
Sue's funeral will be held at Southlawn Chapel, Moore Funeral Home, 9350 East 51st, Tulsa, OK 74145 on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Restore Hope Ministries, 6910 South 101st. East Ave., Tulsa, OK 74133.
