Suzanne Yvonne Shadley was born in 1940 to Howard and Gwendolyn Faris in Akron, OH. Married to John Shadley in 1960, she moved to Tulsa with her husband and five children in 1977, where she resided until her death on October 11th, 2016.
Sue was a member of P.E.O. Chapter DS for 46 years. She served as president three years and was currently serving as secretary at the time of her death. She was much beloved by her P.E.O. Sisterhood and will be sorely missed by her sisters in Chapter DS.
She was an active and devoted member of the Patroness Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity for women for 31 years. She served as president 1992-1993 and 1999-2000. Sue received the Rose of Honor, awarded to her by the Sigma Gamma Chapter at the University of Tulsa.
Sue helped start the TCC Community Orchestra. For over 35 years, Sue was an integral part of the orchestra. She was a dedicated violinist with an infectiously positive energy who loved to play and who was loved by fellow orchestra members. Her violin section will miss her expertise and leadership, the orchestra will miss her musical expression and her many friends will miss her kindheartedness.
In addition to serving as an officer numerous times in the various organizations in which Sue was active, she played professionally in the Tuloma Strings string quartet, performing at weddings and other occasions for many years, and was an avid bridge player.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of 56 years, John; 5 children: Jeff Shadley and wife Ronnamarie Jensen, Mike Shadley and Tim Shadley, all of Tulsa, Julie Koble and Husband Mark of Broken Arrow, and Jenny Whitmire and husband Rick of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren; and sister Laura Knoyer of Fresno, CA.
