She earned a bachelor's degree in English and anthropology from the University of Arkansas in 1975 and a master's degree in English from that university in 1977. She taught English as an adjunct instructor at East Central University in Ada and worked as an unpaid volunteer in the Girl Scouts of America, first as a troop leader and then as a member of the board of the Tiak Girl Scout Council. She also enjoyed carpentry, jigsaw puzzles, landscape painting, canoeing, and kayaking.

She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Victor Lindsey; her daughter, Mae Lindsey; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Navila Lindsey of Arcadia, Oklahoma; her sister Manon Cavins of Broken Arrow; her sister and brother-in-law, Cecile and Dwain Kuehl of Sharpsburg, Georgia; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Susan Lindsey of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.
A Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated on Monday, August 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of St. Pius X Church, of which she was a faithful member. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, in the same chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Tamara's memory to St. Pius X School, Tulsa.
