Taylor Renee Witcher was born November 20, 1993 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is the oldest child and only daughter of Joel and Lisa Witcher of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. A 2012 graduate of Union High School, Taylor was embarking upon her junior year of college at Oklahoma University this August as she pursued a degree in public relations, a minor in Spanish and a minor in Business. Her plans included studying abroad in the spring of 2015. She aspired to work for a major athletic corporation celebrating athletics and promoting team spirit. Her life was cut short Monday, July 28, 2014 as the result of a senseless automobile accident.
Taylor radiated sunlight and joy to her friends and family. Her friends describe her as bold, witty, devoted and determined. She enjoyed cheering at Union High School, serving with the Asbury Methodist Youth Group, attending events with her sorority sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta, listening to music, watching high school football, and Yankee baseball. Brilliant, witty, competitive and fiercely loyal, Taylor exuded what our family calls "one speed" – she went boldly, confidently and victoriously in every endeavor.
While at Union High School, Taylor cheered with the incredible young ladies of Union Varsity Cheer. She was fortunate to cheer at three state champion football games and one state champion basketball game. Cheering at the games, running out on to Tuttle Field in front of the team, these are the events she loved. Fiercely loyal to Union High School, every time one of our teams took the field – she expected to win. Her cheer squads worked together to claim one State Championship title and one National Championship title. She also enjoyed coaching youth cheer teams for the Union Youth Spirit groups for several years.
She leaves friends and co-workers at the University of Oklahoma Athletic Department where she served the Sooner assistant football coaches and at Varsity Cheer where she worked to teach and coach high school squads about the fundamentals of cheerleading in Oklahoma and Texas.
Adored by her brother Wade, Taylor loved and protected him, shared him with her many friends and held his love and admiration always. They are inseparable friends.
She is survived by her parents, Joey and Lisa, her brother, Wade, her maternal grandparents Pat and Dub Chambers of Poncha Springs, Colorado and Phil Haller, of
Yukon , Oklahoma. Other surviving members of Taylor's family include her aunt, Tara Haller of Durango, Colorado, uncle, Todd Haller of Snowmass, Colorado, cousin, Morgan Haller of Tulsa, Oklahoma, great uncle and aunt, Robert and Linda Everett of Norman, Oklahoma and cousins, Jacob, Jill, Addie, Fletcher and Douglas Tate of Allen, Texas.
