Teresia Lovie (Barnes) Dozier was born July 1, 1930 in Tahoka, TX to Clarence Melvin "Shorty" and Lovie Oleta Barnes. She passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024.
As a child, Teresia's family lived in Tahoka and Levelland, TX before moving to Odessa, TX where she graduated from Odessa High School. It was at OHS that she met the love of her life, Harold Dozier. The two were married at First Baptist Church Odessa on August 17, 1950.
Teresia attended Texas Tech University and then became an Air Force wife as Harold served during the Korean War from 1951-1955. While serving in Biloxi, MS, Teresia and Harold welcomed their first daughter, Terri Leigh on July 24, 1953. After Harold's military discharge the family moved to Oklahoma City, OK, where they welcomed their second daughter Cyndee Suzanne on August, 10, 1958.
The family moved to Tulsa in 1960, where Teresia settled into her life as a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Over the years Teresia and Harold welcomed 5 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom call her "Mema." Each of her children and grandchildren would describe her as one the kindest, encouraging, and supportive people in their lives.
Teresia also loved to travel, play cards, and go shopping as often as possible. After Harold's retirement, the couple spent lots of time at their house on Lake Tenkiller, which was a favorite getaway for the whole family for many years to relax, fish, ride on the boats, and waterski. They also enjoyed spending summers in Winter Park, CO, as well as traveling to Sweden to meet distant relatives. She also loved joining Harold at TU basketball games cheering on their Golden Hurricane.
Teresia was baptized as a young girl and was known to all as a faithful woman of prayer. She was a member of many different Bible study groups and was an active member of churches in every place she lived. She and Harold were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Tulsa before joining South Tulsa Baptist Church in recent years. In the last three years of her life, the community of staff and residents at University Village where she lived were very dear to her heart.
Teresia was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-one years Harold, her parents Shorty and Oleta, her son-in-law Tom Johnson, and several members of her husband's family.
Teresia is survived by her sister Clarice Bell and her husband Phil; her daughters Terri Clayton and her husband Bill, and Cyndee Johnson; her grandchildren Eric Costanzo and his wife Rebecca, Kyndell McElwee and her fiance Ryan, Taylor Johnson, Kaycee Johnson, and Kyle Clayton and his wife Addie, Jennifer McGuire and her husband Cameron; and her great-grandchildren Adin, Noah, Abigail, Kynzleigh, Jaxon, Gavin, Payton, Ruby, Isla, Owen, Nick, Allison, and Dylan.
