Obituary

Thelma L. Cambron, 96, went peacefully to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 15, 2019, at her residence, with her family by her side. She was born on Thursday, August 17, 1922, in Farmersville, TX, to Buck and Alice Holland. Thelma married Woodrow Cambron, the love of her life, on August 18, 1939, in Trenton, TX. After Woodrow was honorably discharged from the Army in WWII, he joined the Corp of Engineers and they moved their family to several locations in Texas, including Paris and Denison, TX before moving to Tulsa. Thelma lived in the same home since 1954. After Woodrow died, she went to work in the mail room at McDonnell Douglas, and worked there until she retired.

Raised during the Depression, Thelma was content and humble. A servant, she served in a way that her relationship with, and dependence on Christ, was evident to all that knew her. She was exceptionally generous to others with her time, care and love. Being a housewife, was a job she took pride in, and she was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed loving and nurturing her family. As a committed wife and mother, she prioritized her family's needs and likes above her own. She had a gift for true hospitality, and her home was well-kept and always open to family and friends. She was an excellent cook and made many delicious meals for her family over the years, and was known for her tasty stew. Thelma was an avid Texas Rangers fan, enjoyed playing all card games, and was especially skilled at Canasta and Skip-Bo.

Thelma was a member of Sheridan Christian Center for over 60 years. The church's oldest member, she was very active in the JOY (Just Older Youth) Fellowship Group, and the Gleaners Sunday School class. She loved people, had an unshakable faith, and a kind, generous, giving spirit. She exemplified grace and love towards everyone, and in everything she did. She valued her friendships and relationships, and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and always gave unconditional love and encouragement. Thelma will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but her spirit and memories will live on within each of us, because we were privileged to have her in our lives.

Thelma is survived by daughter, Nancy Vire; son, James Cambron; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Curtis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Alice Christine Hopkins; 2 grandsons, Brent Cambron and Kevin Hopkins; 3 brothers, Clarence Holland, Nelson Holland and Milburn Holland; 2 sisters, Ruby Deason and Opal Deason; nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
